Pannonia Consulting supports inclusion and equality at Zadar Airport

Pannonia Consulting ran a training session for Zadar Airport staff aimed at raising awareness of the importance of inclusion and equality. The session, entitled “How to approach and communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people?”, was held over Zoom and brought together enthusiastic airport staff ready to take on new knowledge and skills.

The training covered the key aspects of communicating with deaf and hard of hearing people, giving participants a basic understanding of hearing loss and what it means for everyday life. They were introduced to a range of hearing aids and assistive technology that can significantly improve the quality of life of people with hearing loss.

Beyond the technical side, the training also covered cultural topics, giving participants a deeper understanding of the Deaf community. They learned more about its history and traditions and about its achievements in sport and the arts, enriching their knowledge and their readiness to interact well with deaf and hard of hearing people.

Particular attention went to practical advice and examples of how to approach deaf and hard of hearing people properly and how to communicate with them effectively. Zadar Airport staff received guidance on adapting the airport’s spaces so that they are more accessible and more comfortable for everyone.

This initiative by Pannonia Consulting is part of a wider strategy of supporting the European Union’s horizontal policies promoting inclusion and equality. Through training of this kind we want to make sure that everyone, whatever their abilities, has equal access to services and information.
