Two new publications from the VET EcoLume project
Two new publications have been released within the project VET EcoLume – Empowering Sustainable Energy Education Through Vocational Training, both aimed at building the knowledge and skills needed to recognise, assess and reduce light pollution. Pannonia Consulting takes part in the project as a partner, alongside organisations from Germany, Estonia, Colombia and Chile.
The first, Vocational Qualification Programme: Light Pollution Mitigation Specialist, is a vocational education programme for building competences in managing light pollution. It is designed to give learners the theory, the practical skills and the tools needed to recognise, assess and mitigate the consequences of artificial light at night.
The content covers the basics of light and light pollution, methods of measurement and monitoring, effects on the environment and on health, sustainable lighting design, and involving the community and the various levels of government. Particular emphasis falls on practical competences tied to energy efficiency, lighting design, environmental impact assessment and regulatory requirements.
The second, EcoLume Instruction Manual: Enhancing Education on Sustainable Energy through Vocational Training, is written for teachers, trainers and other professionals who will deliver the programme in vocational and other forms of education. The manual includes guidance for teaching, participatory activities, case studies, field observations, evaluation material and digital resources.
The material is built to be adapted to different educational settings and used in formal vocational education, in lifelong learning programmes and in non-formal training.
With these publications, VET EcoLume continues to contribute to green and digital skills, to the capacity of educational institutions, and to a better understanding of light pollution as an environmental challenge that keeps growing in importance.
